INVITATION: R+D process for ‘Birds Don’t Run. They Fly’

The application deadline for this session has passed.

A unique opportunity to be an active collaborator on a new piece of theatre in development. This is an invitation to participate in an R+D process with Lauren-Nicole Mayes + creatives for ‘Birds Don’t Run. They Fly’

4 collaborative artist opportunities to work on Blackpool-born writer and performer Lauren’s latest work ‘Birds Don’t Run. They Fly’. A day-long R+D process with Lauren and actors who have been involved in the process of bringing this show to life to date.

Lauren is looking to collaborate with:
2 musicians/singers/composers/sound artists,
1 movement artist,
1 videographer/digital artist who can capture as well as input to the process on the day.

Those invited to take part will be sent the script in advance to read through prior to the day so that you can bring ideas to the creative process.

This play is set in Stanley Park and explores issues of domestic abuse. Invited artists will be paid £250.00 for the day. Lunch will be provided. This event is born out of Lauren’s desire to embed this piece firmly in Blackpool. To explore how a story can grow from a deeply personal narrative into a work of national significance. Whilst there is no guarantee that any artists involved in this R+D will be taken forwards, this will be a facilitated day where we learn, share and create together…
