About Theatre Factory

Theatre Factory is a company of professional theatre makers. It was formed in 1997 to provide a place in Barrow-in-Furness for people, especially young people, to come and make original, new drama based on their own ideas, through improvising, playing, writing and generally messing around.

We have particular interests in young artists, neuro and gender diversity, mental health and well-being and social justice. Theatre Factory are based in the Cooke’s Arts and Media Centre where we have a fully equipped theatre studio and room to act, improvise, make things, move around, puppet, bang drums, animate, perform and film.

Theatre Factory runs all kinds of projects: theatre (indoors, outdoors and online), animation, writing, digital and sound. We make stories in collaboration with children, young people and the occasional adult. Their ideas, your ideas, are at the heart of everything we do. We share those stories locally and regionally from our home in Barrow-in-Furness.

About Sarah Green

Sarah was raised in Lancashire, with family hailing from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Scotland and Ireland. Performing from an early age as a dancer, she then gained a scholarship to train as an actor at Birmingham Royal Conservatoire. Following this, Sarah worked as an actor in theatre and latterly in voice over, voicing adverts, animations, training resources, corporate voice overs and video games. Following the birth of her son, she went into teaching and worked in Colleges, Universities, Schools and community groups teaching Voice and Speech, Acting and directing plays for many years. With the text always close to her heart, she then undertook her Masters in Script Writing and has subsequently had plays performed at festivals and Northern Venues such as the Charter Theatre Preston, The West End Playhouse in Morecambe and The Continental in Preston. Sarah’s plays are largely about ordinary people in extraordinary situations. She is very much looking forward to facilitating  this event at The Old Electric as part of the Power Plays festival.
