How the world has changed by the global coronavirus pandemic. But we can still travel and experience other cultures in different ways. We bring you Korean cultural film night to share with you at The Old Electric in July.

Our three week season will start screening:

2 July – “The Host” (2006) 

9 July – “Burning” (2018)

16 July – “Welcome to Dongmakgol” (2005)

Come along and enjoy a Korean cultural Friday. We look forward to watching some great films with you!

***Those who have purchased all 3 tickets will receive Korean organic wild tea from Bomi Seo’s family free. Single ticket holders would have to pay for Korean tea if they wish.

Burning, 버닝 (2018)

Burning is a 2018 South Korean psychological thriller mystery film co-written, produced, and directed by Lee Chang-dong. Based on the short story “Barn Burning” from The Elephant Vanishes by author Haruki Murakami, It stars Yoo Ah-in, Steven Yeun, and Jeon Jong-seo. The plot depicts a young deliveryman, Jong-su (Yoo), who runs into his childhood friend, Hae-mi (Jeon). They soon meet an enigmatic young man named Ben (Yeun), who Jong-su becomes suspicious of and begins to believe Hae-mi is in danger.

Running time : 148 minutes
