About Andy Smith

Dr Andy Smith is a theatre-maker and Lecturer at The University of Manchester based in Lancaster. For the last six years he has been developing a series of PLAYS FOR THE PEOPLE designed for audiences and groups of people to meet and read together. Each play aims to present ideas, questions and dilemmas that encourage discussion between participants.

“I am a theatre-maker based in the North-West. For some time now and for various reasons I’ve been thinking about how I can create work that travel to and operate in my locality, and potentially reach and listen to broader communities. Power Plays feels important to me for lots of reasons. A fostering of new voices from a particular place and a challenge to who might speak and be spoken for. I am really thrilled to be a part of it.”
