A Poet In Every Port

We’ve partnered up with Southbank Centre for A Poet In Every Port. Inspired by the spirit of the Festival of Britain in 1951, the National Poetry Library is going on tour, stopping at 11 coastal locations to celebrate 75 years of the Southbank Centre. The Mobile Poetry Van will be in Blackpool on 25 and 26 July 2026!

We’ll be kicking off the festival with a day of workshops and performances at Blackpool Central Library, all free to attend. Local writer James Lettice will be reading from his rhyming children’s books, whilst our Heritage Sideshow Characters will be strolling inside and outside of the Library with a poem or two. Why not write a Silly Short Seaside Poem with Ant Briscoe and hear it brought to life by one of our characters!
